1. Life Jackets: Everyone must wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket for the entire duration of the rental. NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

2. Minimum Age:  The minimum age to rent and operate a Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) without adult supervision is eighteen (18) years of age. Renters must present a valid government-issued photo ID as proof of age at the time of rental.

 

Rentals for Individuals Under 18 Years of Age: A parent or legal guardian must be present at the time of rental and must sign this Rental Agreement on behalf of the minor. The parent or legal guardian assumes full responsibility for the minor renter's safety and compliance with this agreement.

 

3. Prohibited Substances: Operating any SUP under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. Lazy Otter SUP Rentals reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

 

4. Environmental Responsibility: Disposing of any item considered litter in the waterways is illegal and harmful to the environment. Renters are responsible for ensuring all trash and personal belongings are properly contained and removed.

 

5. Care of Equipment: Renters are financially responsible for returning the rented SUP(s), paddle(s), and any provided safety equipment in good condition, reasonable wear and tear excepted. Please take care of all equipment during the rental period.

Keep life jackets secured to or on the SUP when not in use. Do not exceed the maximum load weight and occupancy limit of the rented SUP(s).

 

6. Safe Paddling Practices: Follow safe paddling practices and be aware of other boaters and watercraft. Do not cross directly in front of moving boats.

 

7. Weather Conditions: In the event of thunder or windstorms, paddle to the nearest safe shore, exit the water, and remove the SUP(s) from the water if it is safe to do so until the storm passes.

 

8. Cancellation Policy:

Free Cancellation: You can cancel your booking free of charge up to 12 hours before your scheduled rental start time.

Late Cancellation Fee: Cancellations made within 12 hours of your scheduled rental start time will incur a $20 cancellation fee.

 

9. No-Show Fee: If you do not show up for your scheduled rental without prior notification (via phone at 5034848272 or email at lazyottersup@gmail.com), you will be charged a $50 no-show fee.

 

10. Cancellation by Lazy Otter SUP Rentals (Weather): Your rental is subject to cancellation by Lazy Otter SUP Rentals due to severe weather conditions that make paddling unsafe (as determined by Lazy Otter SUP Rentals). In such cases, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule your rental for a later date, subject to availability.

 

11. Payment: The renter agrees to pay the total rental fee as specified above. Applicable cancellation or no-show fees will be charged to the payment method used for the booking.

12. Financial Responsibility for Loss or Damage: The renter assumes full financial responsibility for any loss or damage to the rented SUP, paddle, seat, SUP leash, safety equipment, or any other rental add-on items provided by Lazy Otter SUP Rentals. In the event of loss of a SUP, a replacement fee may be charged. The cost of replacement or repair for any lost or damaged paddle, seat, leash, safety equipment, or rental add-on will also be the responsibility of the renter.
